Welcome to Edgartown! Downtown Edgartown stretches from the Triangle to the harbor and includes the historic Village. Edgartown is the oldest settlement on the island and was once a prosperous whaling port that has reemerged as a charming village, characterized by elegant historic homes and a picturesque harbor. The historic Village is intersected with side streets lined with stately homes built by the whaling captains and is carefully preserved. Main Street looks the way a Main Street in a small New England town should look: a one-way street with a few blocks of inns, shops, art galleries, restaurants, and churches. Downtown Edgartown is a popular and sought after location for vacationers as it's entirely walkable - stroll to Main Street for morning coffee and people watch from a park bench, grab a lobster roll on the harbor and do some shopping, enjoy a late afternoon charter down Katama Bay or spend the day at Lighthouse Beach or Fuller Street beach where you can watch the boats coming and going.
