Lang and his wife Pam moved to the island and became year-round residents of Edgartown in 2004. Prior to their move, Pam was a highly respected agent with Prudential Wheeler Real Estate in Darien, Connecticut, receiving the Prudential Chairman's Circle Award and the Prudential Top 2% Agent Award. Lang's professional experience was in the financial industry, affiliated with Merrill Lynch in Greenwich, Connecticut, for a number of years prior to establishing his own investment firm, Trinal Investment Management. The Clarkes have many historical family ties on the island and volunteer with numerous community organizations.

For the last 4 years, Lang has been a volunteer coach at the MVRHS working with the Boys and Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity goalies. Lang has over 20 years of coaching experience working with all levels of lacrosse players from youth to high school. Prior to moving to the Vineyard, Lang started a Youth Lacrosse Program in Darien, Connecticut.
