Best of the Vineyard 2013 Voting and What’s Happening on Island

I had the first signs of spring yesterday. The birds that nest in the eaves of my roof made their return known; at about 7am I heard them pecking at the wood and rebuilding their nest. It made me smile knowing that spring is soon approaching. Now if only it would hurry up and get here! I’m ready to enjoy the spectacular summer sunsets with the best beach side views, put away the winter coat in favor of a light summer wrap.

Spring also means that it’s now voting season for the Best of The Vineyard. Each year Martha’s Vineyard Magazine gives you the chance to vote on your favorite island businesses and organizations to see who is the fan favorite/cream of the crop in their category. Voting ends March 31 and results come out in the July issue. We would be honored if you could vote Sandpiper Realty for Best Real Estate Company on Martha’s Vineyard. To vote, click here. Thank you!

A lot of changes started happening over the winter. Upon your return to the island you’ll see that construction on the round-a-bout has begun, expect delays during May and June while construction finishes up. East Chop Drive is currently closed due to erosion from the winter season storm activity, we’re waiting patiently to see what the town will do to rebuild.  Menemsha has started construct on new floating docks in the harbor. Season’s has closed its doors for good, no announcements for the future plans with this significant Circuit Avenue storefrontage. And finally, reality TV seems to be coming to the island. ABC Family has picked up “The Vineyard”, a “coming-of-age-docu-soap” on the lives of 20 somethings who come to the vineyard for the summer.
