Martha’s Vineyard is known for a multitude of things; it was once an escape for the Kennedy’s, Jaws was filmed here, the beautiful beaches and bountiful fishing, and last, but certainly not least, the spectacular restaurants we have here on Martha’s Vineyard. The island has something for everyone and every taste, whether you are in the mood for thai or fine dining. Not only is there renown restaurants to indulge in, there are plenty of food and wine events happening throughout the spring and fall here.
May 9 – 12 was the first ever Martha’s Vineyard Wine Festival, a 4 day philanthropic event celebrating wine and food benefiting different charities. Events included a grand wine tasting, an oyster and wine cruise, and even a man vs. wild food event where Chef Billy Manson of ” Local Wild Food Challenge” created a spectacular meal from locally sourced foods from Martha’s Vineyard
June 13 was Taste of The Vineyard, the kickoff to the summer social season where over 75 local restaurants come together to offer a taste of what the vineyard is about, including wine and hand-crafted beers.
Immediately on the heels of the taste is Martha’s Vineyard Restaurant week (Sunday, June 16 – Thursday, June 20) where Martha’s Vineyard restaurants open their doors for the season and offer prix fixe menus designed to showcase what each restaurant is about, whether it’s farm to table meals, amazing pizza, or extravagant 10 course menus.
October is home to the Martha’s Vineyard Food & Wine Festival, an intimate and premier 4 day event held every fall celebrating sea, farm, and vine. This year the festival is from October 17-20, 2013 with events including a grand tasting, seminar programs, parings, and much more.
