We have previously rented in the Vineyard Haven area but decided this year to try an in-town rental within walking distance to downtown Edgartown. It is no exaggeration to say my husband, daughter, son-in-law, three grandchildren, and I absolutely loved this house. It was spotless when we arrived, towels and bedding were of excellent quality, the screened in porch was a welcome retreat for having coffee in the morning and wine in the evening, and there was enough space for our family of seven to spread out. Access to the bike path that enabled us to get to South Beach and the Katama General Store was mere steps away. For anyone who has never been to Martha’s Vineyard, I suggest taking bikes or renting them (as my son- in-law did—they were delivered and picked up) because the wide bike paths on the island are fantastic. Our first priority choosing a house in Edgartown was being able to walk into town. We did that daily! Restaurants, the charming bookstore, shops, side streets with lovely homes and flowers—it was truly magical. It is also a plus to get a Sunday to Sunday rental rather than Saturday. Get a ferry as soon as reservations are accepted! Finally, the rental agent was wonderful to work with and communication was never a problem. In conclusion, we were heartbroken to leave and only regret we didn’t spend two weeks at this house.
