West Tisbury is the Vineyard's traditional farming community. Two prominent agriculturally related buildings in town are the Grange Hall and the Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Hall. The Ag Hall is home to the annual fair in August as well as artisans' shows and other community events. The historic Grange Hall in the center of town is the site of weekly farmers' and artisan's markets and its theater is home to Circuit Arts where you'll find film screenings, live music, and comedy all summer. The town center is also home to the Field Gallery, Alley's General Store and 7a Foods, one of the best places on the island to grab a coffee and an amazing sandwich (try the Liz Lemon!). Heading down-island on State Road, are Middletown Nursery (and gift shop), State Road Restaurant, Martha's Vineyard Glassworks, North Tisbury Farm Stand and the only up-island grocery store, Cronig's Market. The island's leading conservation groups all have properties in West Tisbury where you'll find easy, peaceful hikes. Lambert's Cove Beach on the north shore is the only public (for town residents/renter guests only) beach but both pond and south shore beaches are accessible for a fee at Long Point Wildlife Refuge, one of the island's largest conservation properties. Whether you prefer the woods, farm fields or the beach, there is something for everyone in West Tisbury!
