The Lothrop Merry House is an antique cape dating back to around 1810. It was relocated to its current site overlooking Vineyard Haven Harbor in 1824, transported by a team of 40 oxen. The house is built into a hillside, with the front door facing the harbor and the front lawn extending down to the beach.
Inside, the house features five bedrooms, six decorative fireplaces (non-working), three bathrooms, and an outdoor shower. One of the bedrooms is located at ground level, providing direct access to the water. The main floor includes a bedroom that opens onto the upper patio and driveway, while the remaining three bedrooms are situated on the second-floor level. Four bedrooms offer scenic water views, while the fifth overlooks the gardens.
The property is conveniently located directly across from Owen Park, which has a small town beach with a lifeguard during the summer season and a town dock. It is just a short walk along the beach to the Vineyard Haven ferry or a stroll along Main Street, where there are restaurants and shopping options.
