Martha’s Vineyard Vacation Rental: Oak Bluffs Oasis!

Does it seem to you like I’m always saying, this is my favorite house? Well, I have only one excuse: we have so many gorgeous properties in our rental inventory! This amazing home in the Oak Bluffs neighborhood, Sengekontacket, is no exception. Sengekontacket is a quiet community with water access to Sengekontacket pond and the community tennis courts. The house itself is surrounded by the pond, offering gorgeous water views.

Inside, the house is nothing short of spectacular. It’s charming, spacious, very Vineyard all around. The main house features a screened-in porch with an adjoining deck. And just look at that kitchen! The main house has two bedrooms and a loft and the guest quarters has one bedroom with living room and a loft area with a view. So, it’s great if you’re multi-generational or even two families getting together.

This area of the island is centrally located down-island so you have easy access to downtown Oak Bluffs, Edgartown and Vineyard Haven. The closest ocean beach is State Beach which is a great kid beach because it’s on the sound side which means not a ton of surf, but plenty of crab, shells and sunshine!

Musical Mondays at Featherstone, Oak Bluffs

the entertainment

“Featherstone, the island’s only year-round non-profit arts center, celebrates 13 very fruitful years of bringing art, in a myriad of forms, to island audiences and participants. With gallery shows, workshops, art camps, evenings of music and film, and fundraising events, Featherstone has been the living beating heart of the Vineyard art scene for over a decade now.”

And it’s where I found myself for yet another magical Musical Monday night. Musical Monday’s feature great musicians and harbor an enveloping community on Featherstone‘s outdoor stage every week from 6:30-8:00 p.m. for $7!

This past week was a fantastic concert. Imagine an old fashioned, small community get together. You bring your lawn chair, blanket, dinner, family and friends. We packed a picnic dinner complete with fried chicken, slaw, pasta salad, potato salad, wine, lemonade and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The kids ran around and played some catch while we enjoyed Jemima James along with Willie Mason, her son, Kate Taylor (James’ sister) and her nephew, Jethro.

The setting is intimate and warm…and beautiful. We drove out of Featherstone just in time to witness a beautiful sunset over the tree line.

Stairway to Heaven: Oak Bluffs vacation rental

When I say Oak Bluffs to most people, they think of Circuit Ave, the Flying Horses, Cottage City and the old Tabernacle. It’s true – these are phenomenal highlights of OB, but there’s a softer side too…and clearly illuminated by this Oak Bluffs vacation rental.

That stairway…I’m quite sure this picture says it all. This Martha’s Vineyard getaway is just steps away from the water. Their is nothing quite like a private beach…it’s an ultimate escape and playground.

That view…From this house, you can see Vineyard sunsets and sweeping waterfront views of the Lagoon, outer Vineyard Haven Harbor and Cape Cod from virtually every room on the second floor, including: the patios, living room, dining room and two upstairs bedrooms.

That charm…A house is a house is a house – sometimes! The slanted ceilings, cozy rooms, brick fireplace and design accents throughout this home make it almost as enticing as the island surrounding it…almost!!!
