Flying to Martha’s Vineyard

Most people love coming to the island by the iconic ferry. I do as well, but I prefer to fly when I am able to. Growing up whenever I got to fly here, and to this day, I would hope they would sit me next to the pilot. Coming over to the island in the little Cape Air 7 seater plane, you have the best views of the island that people rarely get to enjoy.

With seasonal and year round routes from most of New England, getting to and from the island is easier than ever before.

Martha’s Vineyard and Hyannis – seasonal service between HYA and MVY runs from May – September.
Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket – year-round island hopping.
Martha’s Vineyard and Boston – fast, frequent, year-round service to Boston’s Logan Airport means meetings in the city or connections to major carriers are a breeze.
Martha’s Vineyard and New York – seasonal service to Westchester County Airport in White Plains runs from June to September with weekend service continuing through December. Passengers can opt for our limo service between Westchester and Manhattan, where you’ll be picked up and dropped off at the corner of 35th Street and 8th Avenue in the heart of the city.
Martha’s Vineyard and Providence – seasonal service to Martha’s Vineyard from T.F. Green Airport in Providence runs from June to September.

Anne began her real estate career in 1995 when she first started working for Sandpiper Rentals under the tutelage of Sharon Purdy as a Sales Assistant. After five years Anne decided to make the switch to full-time rental agent in 2001. Always working towards bettering herself, and the company, Anne accepted the position of Rental Manager in January of 2008. With over 15 years of experience Anne purchased the company in 2011. Since then, Anne has expanded the business, representing over 500 homes on Martha’s Vineyard and hiring six full time agents. Anne epitomizes the values and philosophy of Sandpiper by providing outstanding service to both landlords and tenants alike.

Anne is a mother of two and strongly involved in many community efforts throughout the Island. Her interests include knitting, paddleboarding, skiing and much more.

Martha’s Vineyard Vacation Rental: Vineyard Haven country cottage

This country-style cottage sits right on the edge of the quaint hustle and bustle of Vineyard Haven. You’ll be close to everything you’ll need – from groceries to the movie rental store to the hardware store to great restaurants and the charm of Main Street. But, you’ll also be steps away from beautiful conservation lands maintained by the Land Bank commission. Wonderful trails loop for miles and miles through huckleberry and oak forests.

Meanwhile, the inside of the house is cozy and beautiful. Dark wood, beamed and sometimes slanted ceilings accent quilts, a brick fireplace and comfy furnishings. Also, unlike many of the houses that I showcase here that accommodate 8, 10 or even 12 people, this house is made for six with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Don’t forget about the beach! When you stay here, ‘your’ beach is Lambert’s Cove. You’ll get a West Tisbury sticker that gives you access, and you’ll follow a windy sand-filled path up over a dune and onto this stunning beach that overlooks Martha’s Vineyard Sound. Being on the Sound/North side, the waves are usually calm, not really ocean surf, and coca-cola creek (a constant inlet) offers a fantastic place for kids to play, dig and explore.

The beach is 3.5 miles from the house, but it’s one of the most beautiful (though there are so many!) stretches of road on the island – Lambert’s Cove Road. So beautiful, that the short drive to the beach will feel just as pleasurable as the beach itself! Well, close to it anyway!
